After a decade in their French Country-style home, an art-loving, active young family of four were ready to make their house live up to their creative, modern sensibility. We worked with the homeowner to create a Parisian pied-à-terre inspired home layered with rich jewel tones, luscious textures, sculptural furniture, and statement art. The result balances classic architecture with fresh, warm energy: elegant but playful, sophisticated yet easy to live in, and full of personality.

THE HEART OF THE HOME
The homeowners love to cook and experiment with new recipes. They needed the kitchen to be both beautiful and super functional. We created an easy to access appliance garage to hide her daily use appliances and added a prep sink near the range for chopping and cleaning. We also replaced the original ornate but nonfunctional range hood with a high-performing ventilation system that serves as both a practical centerpiece and a beautiful focal point.
SHOWSTOPPER NATURAL STONE
We wanted the marble to be the star of the show. We love that the bold, chonky edge profile offers an extra punch to the classic material and the quiet simplicity of the greige cabinetry and white oak island. It took several of prototypes to get the profile just right and to minimize the visibility of seams on the front edge. The fabricator took extra care to layer the marble to create the look of continuous veining so te detail looks like a solid chunk of natural stone.
A FRESH PALETTE
The homeowner wanted the color palette to feel bold and fresh. We pulled inspiration from her existing art collection - lots of moody purples and deep blues - and pulled jewel tones to coordinate with the earthy greigey-taupe of the client's existing silk rug that grounds the living room. The den is drenched in an earthy blackberry tone that anchors dusty blue and merlot-toned mohair upholstery. The dining room is a perfect mushroomy-taupe plaster, and the primary suite is a cozy sand beige plaster.
